Our theme next term will be ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!’ This will include staying safe in the sun, beaches, the sea, mythical sea creatures and pirates.

Reminders to Reception parents:
Please can you make sure ALL school uniform and PE kit is appropriately named. Lost and misplaced clothing/shoes are harder to trace without names! Please could the children have appropriate PE clothing for outdoor sessions, to include: track suit bottoms/leggings, fleeces (no hoods), house t-shirts and trainers.
As the weather improves we will be actively encouraging all children to wear a hat when they play outside. Please send your child to school with a named comfortable wide brimmed hat or legionnaire style cap. We encourage all children to have additional protection by using a high factor sunscreen. Please make the first application at home. We will then supervise them to reapply if necessary at school.
Reading with your child
Please remember to read with your child and reinforce the sounds and high frequency words we have been covering in our phonics sessions. You can use the sound cards to create words and play games. Please can you remember to write in your child’s reading record when you have looked at their school reading book with them. Little and often really does help. Reading records and reading books should be in their book bags every day. We will be swapping Library books on a Friday in both classes. If your child would like to swap their book please make sure that it is in their book bag on Friday. We do not need them to draw a picture each time they swap their book.
Please remember to look at the sound cards and high frequency words that have been sent home with your child each term (we will continue to send them out) and also use the number cards to play games to reinforce recognition and understanding of the value of each number. Finally encourage them to use the correct letter formation – using the RWI phrases to guide them if they need help. This will help them to become more confident in writing words and sentences. Please feel free to come and chat to the EYFS team about any questions you might have, our door is always open.
Disco Steve can help us!
