Welcome to EYFS class page where you can find out about all the amazing learning and fun activities that we have been doing during the year.

Our theme this term is ‘All about me’ This encompasses talking about ourselves, our school, our families, learning how we are the same and different from others and looking at the senses.

Reminders to Reception parents:

PE kit

Please can you make sure ALL school uniform and PE kit is appropriately named. Lost and misplaced clothing/shoes are harder to trace without names! Please could the children have appropriate PE clothing for outdoor sessions, to include: track suit bottoms/leggings, fleeces (no hoods), house t-shirts and trainers.

Reading with your child

Please remember to read with your child and reinforce the sounds and high frequency words we have been covering in our phonics sessions. You can use the sound cards to create words and play games. Please can you remember to write in your child’s reading record when you have looked at their school reading book with them. Little and often really does help. Reading records and reading books should be in their book bags every day. We will be swapping Library books on a Monday in both classes. If your child would like to swap their book please make sure that it is in their book bag on Monday.

General reminders

Please remember to look at the sound cards and high frequency words that have been sent home with your child each term (we will continue to send them out) and also use the number cards to play games to reinforce recognition and understanding of the value of each number. Finally encourage them to use the correct letter formation – using the RWI phrases to guide them if they need help. This will help them to become more confident in writing words and sentences. Please feel free to come and chat to the EYFS team about any questions you might have, our door is always open.

New Year's Resolutions 2018

Still image for this video
In Reception we have been thinking about what we would like to get better at this year. We started by looking at the New Year's Eve fireworks and talked about why people make resolutions. We then wrote it down and went to Year 5/6 to use their green screen. We had lots of fun learning how to use the Green Screen App!
