Welcome to Term 6!
This term we are focusing our learning all around journeys and holidays. We will look at beaches, the sea, sea animals, sun safety, pirates, mermaids and we will also think about transport and how we travel to go on holiday.
Have a look at some of the fun we have had…
Term 5 Week 3
This week our focus story has been Hansel and Gretel. We discussed the story and then sequenced the events in the story. We continued our work on descriptive writing by describing the witch and the gingerbread house. We also talked about the importance of looking after our teeth and not eating too many sweeties! We did some fabulous paintings based on the story and we finished the week off with a little treat of decorating (and eating) biscuits!
Term 5 Week 2
This week we have been looking at the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and we started off by having a walk in the woods next to school. We talked about what we saw and linked it to Red Riding Hood’s journey through the woods. We did some super descriptive writing and some wonderful paintings.
Term 5 Week 1
This week we started our new topic with a whole day of Fairy Tale fun! We had a quiz where we had to guess which traditional tale some famous sayings were from. We were all really good at recognising sayings such as “Grandma, what big teeth you have!”, and “who’s been sleeping in my bed?” We then went into the hall for games, music and drama all related to traditional tales. In the afternoon we had a scavenger hunt outside looking for clues from different stories which we then had to match to the correct story. It was a great start to our new topic. We have also completed some fantastic descriptive writing and looked at the different characters and settings within the stories.
Term 4 Week 7
This week we have had a focus on Easter! We talked about The Easter Story and why we celebrate Easter. We also talked about all the different ways we might celebrate Easter. We joined in with the school Easter tea, paraded our Easter bonnets, had an egg hunt around the school grounds and tasted hot cross buns!
As part of science week we also looked at magnets and had great fun exploring them.
We also have had great excitement watching our caterpillars grow into butterflies. We then said our goodbyes and set them free!
Term 4 Week 6
This week we read the story of Jasper’s Beanstalk. We sequenced the story and linked it to our work in maths on time. We all wrote instructions on how to plant a bean and we got creative with flowers! We deconstructed them and sorted the different parts and then used them to create our own beautiful flower pictures.
Term 4 Week 5
This week we have read the story ‘Jack and the Incredibly Mean Stalk’ and compared it with Jack and the Beanstalk. We also looked at the different parts of a plant, creating our own plant pictures and labelling them. We started an experiment where we planted cress seeds in both soil and on cotton wool to see if they would grow or not. We all made a prediction as to what we thought might happen. On Friday we had fun making our own toast and choosing our topping!
Term 4 Week 4
This week we have continued our work on Jack and the Beanstalk and we enjoyed planting our own beans and learning all about the different parts of a plant.
Term 4 Week 3
This week we have been reading the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and completing lots of work around it and we started our Little Gardners group with Mrs Southwell.
In week 2 we found out about and celebrated Shrove Tuesday and joined in with the fun of World Book Day!
Welcome to Blossom Class in Term 4!
This term our topic is called 'Let it Grow.' We are looking at plants and finding out what they need to be able to grow. We will also be hoping to do some gardening of our very own! We will also be looking at minibeasts with week 1 having the book 'Superworm' as our focus.
